so here's the situation. you're playing on blood gulch. you've cleared out the enemy forces at their base, and you're returning with their flag. you're nearly at your base, piloting a ghost, when all of a sudden, BAM! you're dead. turns out there was a camper waiting on the cliff. you have probably bad this happen to you at least once. you've probably thought it was unfair. well, i am here to try to further explain campers, and their strategies.
campers are the 'bad' kind of sniper rifle users. they generally find a place that's out of reach to most, often requiring a vehicle or grenade jump to get to, and from there, they simply wait for players to get the flag. they're the kind of players who don't care about defending the flag, they're really only there to ruin the game. a common form of griefing in halo, is 'spawn-camping' spawn-camping is essentially sniping someone every time they respawn, effectively preventing them from playing. these people are usually kicked if an admin is on the server. however, they can also be stopped by using anti-camping plugins, where if a player stands in one location for a long enough time, they are kicked or killed.
in summary, the sniper rifle is a pretty overpowered weapon, but i don't think that's a bad thing. as long as each team has one, the playing field can be level, and the game can continue as normal.
